Private equity investment firm HIG Capital has appointed Simon Laker as principal and head of European asset management for its real estate portfolio.

Private equity investment firm HIG Capital has appointed Simon Laker as principal and head of European asset management for its real estate portfolio.

Laker will be based in HIG's London office and joins the firm from UK private equity group Evans Randall, where he managed real estate investments across several European markets.

Headquartered in Miami, the US, HIG manages over €13 bn of assets. Its European real estate team is active across a range of real estate asset classes and has completed 11 transactions in the last two years.

Earlier this year the company purchased two portfolios of light industrial assets in the Netherlands for a combined value of €44 mln and snapped up an NPL portfolio in Italy from banking group Cassa di Risparmio di Ravenna.
