International asset manager Henderson Global Investors (HGI) has appointed Giorgio Giovannini to the position of new business development director. Giovannini, HGI's country manager for Italy, has been leading the group's Italian activities since 2001.
In his new role, he will be responsible for leading and consolidating the group's operations in new key markets such as Latin America, where the company is seeking expansion. He will also continue to lead the Italian operations.
Giovannini (54) joined HGI in 2000 after working for a number of international banks such as Chase Manhattan, Dresdner Bank and Gruppo Montepaschi.
'Italy remains a strategic market for Henderson, with the largest portfolio under management among the Continental European countries,' Giovannini said. 'At the same time, we are aiming to grow in new promising markets such as Latin America, which we think can provide a significant contribution to the company's development over the next 18 months.'
