Henderson Global Investors has acquired a retail warehouse near Sundsvall in northern Sweden for about EUR 20mln. The site in Birsta covers 30,000 m2, including 9,387 m[sup]2[/sup] of retail warehousing and 300 car park spaces. Seven national retailers specialising in the home improvement sector are renting space at the facility.

The site in Birsta covers 30,000 m2, including 9,387 m2 of retail warehousing and 300 car park spaces. Seven national retailers specialising in the home improvement sector are renting space at the facility.
King Sturge, working with associate company Newsec, advised Henderson on the transaction. King Sturge said that the Birsta area has seen an increasing number of development projects which has transformed the area into the third largest retail park in Sweden over the last 10 years.
Penny Hacking, partner at King Sturge, commented: 'the Birsta area is one of the biggest out-of-town shopping areas in northern Sweden; today it attracts over 5 million visitors a year and it is expected to expand in the coming years'.
