Henderson Global Investors has joined forces with McArthurGlen to carry out a EUR80 mln redevelopment project to create a new designer outlet village for Berlin. The two-phase project will offer total gross lettable area of 19,000m2 and is expected to host 120 leading retail brands, Henderson said in a statement.

The project includes the redevelopment of the existing scheme, which offers 11,000 m2 of retail space. It will also include childcare facilities and car parking for 2,000 cars. The scheme is located on the B5 motorway and is a 30-minute drive from Berlin city centre, Henderson says.

McArthur Glen already operates nine designer outlet villages in Europe, but this deal marks its entry into the German market.
