Henderson Global Investors has appointed Katherine Croom as portfolio manager for its sector specialist pan-European retail property fund, Herald. Croom joins from CBRE's London Retail Development team where she provided advice to both investors and retailers on a number of large mixed-use shopping centre schemes at different stages of the development process. In addition, she was responsible for identifying asset management opportunities to maximise the value of the assets.

With a fund size of circa EUR 1 bn, Herald invests in retail warehouses, shopping centres and city centre retail assets in Eurozone countries with a particular country focus on Spain, Italy, France and Germany. The vehicle, which was launched in December 2005, targets assets that offer asset management, refurbishment or development opportunities. It is structured as a Fonds Commun de Placement vehicle (FCP) domiciled in Luxembourg.
