Helical Bar has been granted planning permission for its proposed mixed-use development at the former St Bartholomew's Hospital site in London.

The buildings on the site are currently let to the National Health Service (NHS) but will become vacant on a phased basis over the course of the next two to four years.

Helical Bar is proposing a 21,400 m2 office complex in two buildings and 215 high-quality residential apartments in 17 buildings with retail space at ground floor level.

Helical Bar and its joint venture partner, The Baupost Group, purchased the site in 2011. Work is due to commence in late 2014.
