Germany's Helaba has appointed Norbert Kellner to work with Wolfgang Hild in Frankfurt to lead syndication and placement for the bank’s real estate finance activities.
The appointment took effect from 1 June.
Kellner has been active in national and international syndication for many years.
In a statement, Helaba said that the appointment reflected growing interest from investors - particularly insurance companies and funds - in loans as a type of investment.
The lender intends to further develop real estate finance with the savings banks in Germany.
Real estate finance is a core business area for the bank, which in 2012 achieved a new business volume of more than €7 bn. Assuming transaction volumes in target markets grow again, Helaba envisages reaching a similar level of new business this year.
