Heimstaden Bostad, the second largest residential real estate company in Europe that first entered the UK in 2021, has appointed a head of operations in its new market.
Amit Kumar has joined having spent 14 years managing housing operations and hospitality assets in the UK. He joins from Savills where he has been focusing on the 603-unit Allegro Living apartment, which is Birmingham’s largest.
Birmingham is the city Heimstaden Bostad made its debut acquisition in the UK. In May 2021, it agreed to forward purchase newbuild project, Soho Wharf, with 752 residential units for SEK 1.9 bn (€187 mln).
Kumar said: ‘Joining Heimstaden at the beginning of its expansion into the UK is an exciting opportunity. Our Nordic values, long-term approach, and inhouse management will offer something new to the market, and I am looking forward to setting up a scalable management platform ready to start operating next year in my home city of Birmingham.’
