Nick Deeks, former director and head of EMEA Real Estate at Amazon, has resigned his post to form a new venture with Scannell Properties, an American private investment and real estate development company.
Scannell Properties, which specialises in large-scale industrial and logistics projects, has created Scannell International, a new division focused on supplying services to e-commerce and retail operators by developing and investing in build-to-suit real estate solutions.
Deeks will lead the company, joined by Chris Davies, also from Amazon.
In 2016, Deeks took on overall responsibility for Amazon’s real estate in Europe and the Middle East. Prior to joining Amazon he had been director of international real estate at Costco Wholesale.
Davies has led Amazon Logistics’ European last-mile real estate requirements for the last four years.
Robert Scannell, founder and CEO of Scannell Properties, said: 'The launch of this new division reflects Scannell’s confidence in the European market. We are really excited by the opportunities Nick, Chris and their team will deliver for our customers.'
Scannell International will operate initially across Europe, with a head office in London.
Deeks said: 'Working closely where necessary with Scannell Properties Europe’s existing resources, we will bring an obsession to customer service that we know will set us apart.'
Founded in 1990 in the US, in 2018 Scannell Properties expanded its industrial development operations into Europe with an office in London, Paris, Milan and Dusseldorf, focusing on the core markets of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK.
