Eastern European developer HB Reavis said that it has started the construction of the Aupark Kosice mixed-use complex in Eastern Slovakia. The project is located in the Liberators' Square of Kosice and will include a shopping and entertainment centre as well as an office building. Completion is planned for the end of 2011.

'Aupark Kosice will include all significant international fashion brands, a supermarket, large bookshop, fitness-centre, branches of banks as well as restaurants, fast-food chains offering international cuisine and cafes that will provide the visitors with a wide range of possibilities for relaxation and gastronomic experience,' said Roman Karabelli of HB Reavis.

The company plans to invest a total of some EUR 93 mln in the development of the centre, which will offer 34,000 m2 of commercial space on three floors. Aupark Kosice will also include a parking lot with 1,100 parking spaces and 160 shops.

HB Reavis has been active in the Slovak real estate market since 1993. In 2007, the company opened new offices in the Czech Republic and Hungary. Major projects include the Bratislava Aupark shopping centre as well as the Apollo Business Centre I and II, and City Business Centre I-II, all of them located in the Slovak capital.

After completion of Aupark in Bratislava and the sale of a 50% stake to Unibail-Rodamco, the HB Reavis Group decided to start the development of a number of other Aupark centres in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, with a number of projects underway in Zilina, Trencín, Pies'any, Ruzomberok, Brno, Ostrava, Hradec Králové and Karviná.
