The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) has awarded its annual Trustees’ Distinguished Service Award to Derek Barker, managing director of international architects Haskoll.
The award is presented to ICSC members who have made special contributions to the industry and was presented to Barker during the organisation’s RECon Convention, held last month in Las Vegas.
Barker has worked on more than 75 new-build and refurbishment retail projects and has over 30 years retail design experience. He is also a director of Haskoll China, which designs shopping centres, retail complexes and resorts in the region.
ICSC president Michael Kercheval said Barker’s award was well deserved. ‘His commitment and support for this industry is total and his knowledge of shopping centres across the world is vast,’ he said.
