Regeneration specialist Harworth Group has appointed Andrew Pexton as regional director for its North West region, as the team moves into an upsized office space in central Manchester.
Pexton joins from JLL, where he was a senior director leading the firm’s Manchester industrial & logistics team. Prior to joining JLL in 2020, he spent 26 years at Avison Young in Manchester, where he was latterly a director within its industrial & logistics team.
Pexton will lead Harworth’s 10-person North West team, which was formed in 2018. Active sites in the region include the 1.2 million ft2 (112,000 m2) Chatterley Valley site in Staffordshire, the 900-home Moss Nook brownfield regeneration scheme in St Helens, and a 1.1 million ft2 industrial & logistics schemes planned for Wingates in Bolton, close to the group’s highly successful Logistics North development.
The North West team also continues to promote a number of strategic land sites across Greater Manchester, Merseyside and North Wales.
Pexton’s arrival coincides with Harworth’s North West team moving into 7,000 ft2 of newly refurbished office space on the sixth floor of the Trinity building in Manchester.
The new office is located between the city’s traditional commercial district surrounding St Peter’s Square and its Spinningfields financial centre. This represents an upsizing of Harworth’s existing presence in Manchester, to support the team’s continued growth and future ambitions.
Lynda Shillaw, chief executive of Harworth, commented: 'Our North West team are the driving force behind some of Harworth’s most exciting projects, working with stakeholders to support new homes, jobs and investment across Greater Manchester, Merseyside and beyond.
'Andrew has a wealth of experience working in the region and particularly in the industrial & logistics sector. I’m delighted to be welcoming him to the team and to our new Manchester office.'
Andrew Blackshaw, chief operating officer of Harworth, added: 'We will benefit greatly from Andrew’s expertise, relationships and track-record of delivery in the North West. I look forward to working with him to progress Harworth’s significant portfolio of development sites, pursue opportunities to grow our landbank and create more sustainable places where people want to live and work.'
Said Pexton: 'I was drawn to Harworth by its talented people, extensive portfolio and strong sense of purpose. I’ve spent my whole career in the North West and know the huge potential of this region, so I’m looking forward to working with the Harworth team to help unlock it further.'
