Alternative real asset investment firm Harrison Street together with student housing specialists Global Student Accommodation Group (GSA), have announced the development of a new purpose built student accommodation (PBSA) property in Dublin.
The 235-bed scheme will also include 37 build-to-rent (BTR) units, which will be managed through GSA’s Uninest Residences brand.
The property, currently known as Sweeney’s Corner, is centrally located in Dublin’s Liberties district, within 10-15 minutes of Dublin universities including Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University, Royal College of Surgeons, and Dublin Institute of Technology.
The scheme will comprise cluster beds, studios, and one-bedroom apartments plus a range of shared amenities. The project is expected to be completed prior to the start of the 2021 academic year.
Robert Mathias, senior managing director and head of international business for Harrison Street, said: 'The development of Sweeney’s Corner represents the strength of our partnership with GSA and we are thrilled to continue to work alongside them.
'Dublin’s student housing market remains significantly underserved with high barriers to entry and we look forward to continuing to provide students in top-tier university cities with much needed access to world-class accommodations.'
Nicholas Porter, chairman at GSA, commented, 'We’re thrilled to announce this new development with Harrison Street to support students in the underserved Dublin market. This is further progress to achieving our purpose of providing students worldwide with a first-class student experience.'
Sweeney’s Corner is the seventh asset Harrison Street and GSA have developed in Dublin under their Ireland joint venture, which includes the adjacent properties, New Mill and The Tannery.
Harrison Street and GSA’s student accommodation joint venture launched in December 2015 and now - following the recent sale of six properties to GSA under independent ownership - includes 22 properties with 8,785 beds in the UK, Ireland and Spain.
