HanseMerkur Grundvermögen, the real estate arm of the German insurance group, has acquired the Smart Office scheme at Düsseldorf Airport from project manager Bema and ABG Real Estate Group.
Financial details were not disclosed.
The 14,400 m2 office scheme is due for completion by the end of the summer and comprises two H-shaped building wings connected by glass elements. It will rise to five storeys on a 10,000 m2 site in Airport City Düsseldorf.
The flexible office project has received a gold pre-certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) for sustainable planning and execution.
The building is also certified for Wired Score Gold. Construction work commenced in September 2019.
According to HanseMerkur, around 80% of the office has already been leased on a long-term basis.
From September 2021, Deutsche Glasfaser, the third largest provider of broadband fiber-optic networks, will rent around 4,100 m2 of office space.
The German arm of the Boston Scientific Corporation has inked a contract for 4,500 m2 with 101 parking spaces, while the entire 4th floor with around 3,000 m2 has been leased to the Intersnack Group.
