Dutch cooperative bank Rabobank Nederland plans to appoint Hans van der Linden (57) as the new board chairman of its real estate arm Rabo Real Estate (formerly Rabo Bouwfonds). Van der Linden, who previously held senior management positions within Rabobank Nederland, will take up his new post on February 1, 2009, pending approval from Dutch regulatory body AFM and Rabo's works council.

Van der Linden will succeed Tjalling Halbertsma, who stepped down in June this year due to a business-related difference of opinion. Over the past five months, Peter Keur headed up Rabo Real Estate on an interim basis. He will resume his role as board chairman of Rabo's financing arm, FGH bank, from February.

Van der Linden joined Rabobank Nederland in 1975. Over the past 10 years he has worked as Director of Risk Management of Affiliated Banks and Director Audit at Rabobank Group.
