Retail brands H&M, Top Secret, Butik and Kolporter have signed lease agreements in Galeria Gniezno in the Polish city of Gniezno for a total of 1,650 m2. Occupying around 1,300 m2, the H&M store is the first in Gniezno.

'We are convinced that the presence of new brands will influence shoppers' interest in the Galeria as well as have a positive impact on all tenants' turnovers,' said Adam Klos, consultant at Jones Lang LaSalle Retail Agency, which was responsible for the re-commercialisation of Galeria Gniezno.

'The introduction of a major fashion operator such as H&M, is in line with the remodelling strategy Jones Lang LaSalle has introduced. Securing such a large area was only possible after several relocation agreements were signed with existing tenants that occupy smaller units. We have also managed to modernise the internal communication which seems to be much more convenient for shoppers,' adds Klos.

Commenting on the remodelling strategy, Marta Augustyn, Associate Director at Jones Lang LaSalle Retail Agency added: 'Shopping Centre Remodelling, which is becoming more and more common in our market, relates to retail formats developed several years ago. It involves the replacement of brands and the introduction of larger fashion, sport or multimedia shops.

'It often involves the internal or external redevelopment of the shopping centre, through expansion of the commercial areas or simplifying the internal communication. In doing so, it brings a fresh lease of life to older, smaller or lower standard shopping centres and enables them to compete with recently developed modern shopping centres.'

Galeria Gniezno is a shopping centre of a total area around 16,000 m2 offering food, fashion, furnishings, shoe shops, service points and entertainment, together with restaurants. It has approximately 60 shops and service points in total.
