Hammerson's Union Square to open on 29 October

UK REIT Hammerson has announced that Union Square, the company's latest retail regeneration scheme, will open to the public in Aberdeen on 29 October 2009.

Hammerson said the development brings over 1,000 retail and leisure jobs to the city as well as new retailers.

Over 4,000 people have signed up to the Jobs for U employment and training programme and over 1,000 people have applied online for employment opportunities within the scheme.

Union Square comprises a main covered mall with glazed atrium as well as a premium, retail park and will be the first combined retail offer of this kind in Scotland. The development is integrated with Aberdeen's transport hub, including the train and bus stations which are used by over 2.5 million passengers a year.

Leading the fashion and lifestyle line up at the 65,000m² scheme are Apple, Bestseller, Cult, Zara, M&S, Miss Selfridge, Warehouse, Next and Mamas & Papas.
