Hammerson's Victoria Gate, the only major retail scheme to launch this year in the UK, opened its doors on Thursday in Leeds.
The £165 mln (€185 mln) scheme, adjacent to Hammerson's Victoria Quarter arcade, forms part of the new 53,400 m2 Victoria Leeds shopping destination.

'Whilst transforming the city's luxury and aspirational shopping and dining offer, Victoria Gate will also provide a significant contribution to Leeds’ local economy with the city now set to become the undisputed regional shopping capital of the North,' added Atkins.
The retail and leisure venue, designed by Acme architects, is anchored by the first John Lewis in Leeds - the largest outside London. The scheme is 90% let and brings 30 new brands to the city. 33% of the centre's brands are new to Hammerson's retail portfolio. Restaurants and a casino complete the offer.
Hammerson has targeted a BREEAM excellent rating for the scheme.
