The Bulgarian Foreign Investment Agency has reported that Spanish real estate company Grupo Detea will build the country's largest retail centre so far. According to the agency it is investing EUR 50 mln in the construction of a shopping mall in the southeastern part of the city of Sofia, opposite the Sofía Business Park, which itself is the biggest private investment project currently being developed in Bulgaria.

According to the agency it is investing EUR 50 mln in the construction of a shopping mall in the southeastern part of the city of Sofia, opposite the Sofía Business Park, which itself is the biggest private investment project currently being developed in Bulgaria.

Grupo Detea acquired the 180,000 m2 site for EUR 6 mln, and plans to build a 20,000 m2 leisure centre, together with offices and hotels on a further 20,000 m2, in addition to the 90,000 m2 shopping mall. The development is Grupo Detea's first investment in Bulgaria, and follows the announcement of a similar scheme in Poznan, Poland and a number of commercial property investments in Romania.
