The public consultation reveals that the scheme would host around 1,500 new rental homes, including some discounted market rent properties, on a 12-acre former biscuit factory site. The plan has been designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox.

'London's housing shortage is too often creating polarised outcomes, with homes for the few who can afford to buy them, and those allocated social rented accommodation,' commented Craig McWilliam, Grosvenor Britain & Ireland's chief executive. 'We want to help create one of London's greatest neighbourhoods for people of mixed incomes, backgrounds and life stages.'

The new neighbourhood would also include 85,000 ft2 of ground floor retail, food, leisure and culture, plus a 600-place secondary school, over 110,000 ft2 of new public space and almost 20,000 ft2 of new playspace.

A number of the older buildings in the heart of the Biscuit Factory are owned by Workspace Group and are leased to local businesses. Grosvenor said that these buildings would be retained and that it was working closely with Workspace on the plan.
