Macquarie’s UK build-to-rent platform Goodstone Living has appointed Iliya Blazic to the newly created role of CEO.
Joining executive shareholders, Darryl Flay and Martin Bellinger, Blazic will be responsible for day-to-day leadership of the business and report to the Board of Directors.
Having held top leadership positions at IQ Student, Dominvs Group, Wellcome Trust, and LaSalle Investment Management, he brings to the job more than 25 years of real estate investment and fund management experience.
In his most recent position as CIO of IQ Student, Blazic managed the company's real estate portfolio's expansion to more than 28,000 beds, which led to the sale of the company to Blackstone Group in 2020 for £4.7 bln (€5.4 bln).
Dana Gibson, chairman of Goodstone Living, said: ‘This appointment strengthens Goodstone Living’s leadership capability and accelerates the realisation of our growth ambitions. Iliya is an outstanding investment professional and leader, with a strong track record of success. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I welcome Iliya to Goodstone Living and look forward to working together to innovate and invest for a better future.’
Darryl Flay, co-founder and principal of Goodstone Living, added: ‘We look forward to welcoming Iliya to our senior leadership team. Iliya’s extensive management and real estate experience makes him a great fit for our business, as we deliver our first projects and take advantage of market opportunities through the creation of long-term capital partnerships.’
Iliya Blazic added: ‘I am delighted to join Goodstone Living at such an exciting stage of the company’s development. I look forward to working with the Board, our capital partners, and leadership team as we deliver on our growth strategy and build our reputation as a leading build-to-rent real estate manager, developer and partner of choice across the UK.’
