Logistics property giant Goodman has signed a contract with online ecommerce provider Amazon to develop a 90,000 m2 logistics centre in northern France.

The new development at Lauwin-Planque in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region is the 10th facility to be developed by Goodman for Amazon in Europe. On completion of the warehouse, Goodman will continue as the property manager.

The logistics centre will provide 90,000 m2 of storage and office space on a 170,000 m2 site in Lauwin-Planque. Goodman has previously developed 106,000 m2 for Amazon in France at Orléans and Montelimar. Both developments were acquired by the Goodman-managed Goodman European Logistics Fund (GELF) and the warehouses are managed by Goodman’s in-house property services team.

'This is the third development that we have undertaken for Amazon in France. We were one of the first real estate businesses to recognise the potential of the ecommerce sector and this latest project demonstrates that our customers recognise our expertise in the development of high-quality ecommerce logistics space,' said Jean-François Mounic, Goodman's regional director for Southern Europe.

The deal is the second to be signed by Goodman in France in the fourth quarter of 2012. The group currently has over 120,000 m2 under development in France across two projects, and 750,000 m2 in assets under management.
