Logistics space provider Goodman has started construction of a 16,000 m2 warehouse at the new logistics centre being developed at Poznan airport in Poland.

Some 4,500 m2 of warehouse and office space at the new facility will be leased to Polish beverage wholesaler CD Partner, with Goodman constructing the remaining 11,500 m2 on a speculative basis. Delivery of the warehouse is planned for the second quarter of 2015.

CD Partner will use the site as its new headquarters, storing and distributing a variety of beverages from this central location. The company has signed a ‘Green Lease’ clause which includes a provision to reduce waste generation and consumption of energy and water.

‘We see a lot of potential in this region and that is why we decided to begin construction of the first building at the Poznan Airport Logistics Centre,’ said Blazej Ciesielczak, Goodman’s director for Central and Eastern Europe. ‘In addition to our other Polish speculative developments in Gdañsk, Wroc³aw and Kraków, the new project in Poznan illustrates Goodman’s strategy to execute strategic investments in key logistics locations across Central and Eastern Europe.’

‘Poznan is one of the fastest-growing markets on the Polish warehousing map,’ said Urszula Rasmussen, head of industrial at Sharman Church Chartered Surveyors, which advised on the transaction with CD Partner. ‘Increasing demand and a low vacancy rate is encouraging new investment in the logistics real estate market, such as the Goodman Poznan Airport Logistics Centre. This is thanks to a strong local market, availability of a skilled workforce along with a well-developed road infrastructure.’
