Global property company Goodman and UK-based Co-operative Group have announced plans to develop a new regional distribution warehouse (RDC), which will create over 900 new jobs at Goodman’s Andover Airfield site in Hampshire.
Under the agreement, Goodman will deliver a warehouse of just under 500,000 sq ft (46,450 m2) for the Group, which is now the UK’s fifth largest food retailer.
The RDC will be positioned at the northwestern corner of the former airfield site, with direct access onto the A303, linking it to London and the South West. It will replace the 863,000-sq ft (80,350 m2) building which was granted planning permission in August 2009. The balance of the land re-designed to accommodate a range of smaller buildings.
The two organisations are now working on a fresh planning application which will be the subject of public consultation shortly.
