Global property group Goodman and real estate investment manager Europa Capital have received outline planning consent to develop 325,000 sq ft (30,000 m2) of industrial space at their 16-acre site in New Hythe near Aylesford, Kent, UK.

Tonbridge and Malling Council granted outline permission for a range of industrial and employment uses to regenerate the brownfield site, which is the site of a former Saica Packaging UK factory before closing down in 2009.

Goodman and Europa Capital established a joint venture (JV) in October 2010 to invest in land in prime locations and to undertake the development of logistics facilities on a pre-let basis. The New Hythe site is the first land acquisition made by the JV.

'This is great news for New Hythe that could provide an economic boost in the area by creating over 550 jobs,' said Jason Harris, development director at Goodman. 'We will now commence marketing of the site and are already in discussion with a number of potential occupiers.'

CBRE and Altus Edwin Hill have been appointed as letting agents.
