Goodman has developed a 57,500 m2 turnkey logistics facility in the Belgian municipality of Beringen on behalf of Mobis Parts Europe, the official dealer for KIA and Hyundai car parts.

The new distribution centre is one of the largest logistics real estate projects on the Belgian market this year, according to Goodman which has developed over 500,000 m2 of distribution space for the automotive industry in continental Europe.

Mobis relocated to Beringen to support the growth of its business. The new facility, situated in the Belgian province of Limburg, now serves as the central warehouse for Mobis, Hyundai Motors and Kia Motors, and will directly supply customers in the Benelux, France and Switzerland. The new building provides 54,500 m2 of warehousing space, which includes a 2,500 m2 mezzanine and 3,000 m2 of office space.

To meet Mobis' specific operational needs, the ceilings are more than 12 metres high, the building has a reinforced floor, and provide separate spaces for hazardous materials and tyre storage.

Unal Aytan, senior manager of operations at Hyundai Mobis Europe, said, 'The new, modern distribution centre developed by Goodman will enable us to modernise our supply chain and better service our internal and external customers, while reducing our natural resource consumption. Goodman has listened closely to our needs and has added a number of specific features to the building that further ensure the safety of our employees and help us operate more efficiently.'
