Goodman Group has acquired a 43,000 m2 logistics facility in Lyon and leased the entire property to French supermarket group Auchan.
The facility, providing 42,000 m2 of warehousing space and 1,000 m2 of office space, is located in L’Isle d’Abeau Logistics Park near Lyon. Comprising a total of 2 million m2 of warehousing space, the park is the largest of its kind in France and one of the largest in Europe.
The warehouse, the only grade-A logistics building available in the Lyon region, was acquired by Goodman European Partnership (GEP), Goodman’s flagship European real estate investment vehicle.
The financial details were not disclosed.
'This new acquisition adds an important new property to our portfolio in France, in a location characterised by high demand for grade-A facilities but limited available supply,' said Emmanuel Van der Stichele, GEP director of investment management. 'The acquisition in L’Isle d’Abeau further strengthens our best-in-class logistics real estate portfolio.'
Arthur Loyd Logistique advised Goodman on the transaction and lease agreement. On completion of current projects, Goodman will have provided almost 500,000 m2 of logistics space for the retail and e-commerce sectors in France.
