The Italian city of Genoa is to be home to a new shopping and leisure centre as well as a new stadium by 2011, Italian Gruppo Giacomazzi Real Estate announced at the Expo Italia real estate fair in Milan. This futuristic project, presented for the first time at the fair, will be located between Genoa Airport and the Renzo Piano-designed waterfront facing Sestri Ponente harbour.

The new complex, valued at some EUR 250 mln, will be financed by Foruminvest Italia, a subsidiary of Dutch commercial property company Foruminvest, and Italian group Golfo. The 34,000-seat stadium is sponsored by Riccardo Garrone, president of Sampdoria Football Club, and will become the club’s new training ground. The project still requires regulatory approval.
