Generali Real Estate is stepping up its commitment to the logistics sector with the hire of CBRE GI’s former European logistics head Pierre-David Baylac.
Baylac, who is joining the group’s Paris team from April in the newly created position of head of logistics, will be seeking to increase the Generali Real Estate logistics portfolio in Europe, both through new acquisitions as well as the development of the current logistic portfolio already comprising several assets in France and in Italy.
Generali first committed to logistics in 2019 with the launch of a dedicated pan-European core plus fund, Generali Real Estate Logistics Fund (GRELF). The fund, which is planning to reach a size of €2 bn, is also looking to raise capital from third party institutional investors alongside the Generali Group insurance companies.
Baylac has over 27 years of experience in European logistics investment management. Before joining Generali Real Estate, he spent 10 years at CBRE Global Investors as head of logistics Europe, and fund manager of the four Funds dedicated to logistics, managing a European portfolio above €1.6 bn in nine Countries. He served previously as country manager France at Goodman, and previously was fund manager of the Logistic Fund at AEW.
