Logistics space provider Gazeley, which was recently acquired by Dubai World, has appointed Tomasz Oczkowski as country manager for Poland and plans to open a new office in Warsaw at the beginning of July in a move to strengthen its position in the fast-growing Central and Eastern European market.

Gazeley sees Poland as an ideal springboard for expansion into the rest of Eastern Europe. In 2007 alone, around 1 million m2 of logistics space was developed in Poland, bringing total modern logistics space to 4 million m2.

'In the next few months, we will focus specifically on identifying and buying suitable logistics sites for speculative building projects (in Poland),' said Nick Redwood, managing director for the UK and CEE countries at Gazeley. 'And we have an excellent expert on board in the person of Tomas Oczkowski,' he added.

Before joining Gazeley, Oczkowski was logistics and business development director for Eastern Europe at Wincanton. He has 12 years of experience in the logistics sector.
