Garbe Industrial Real Estate has purchased its largest plot of land ever with the acquisition of a 420,000-m2 site in the Berlin area.
The firm plans to invest around €290 mln in the development of a logistics centre on the site, with a total area of around 270,000 m2 over three buildings.
Construction is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2027 once building rights have been obtained.
'We have pulled off a real coup with this property purchase,' said Adrian Zellner, member of the executive board of Garbe Industrial Real Estate. 'We can create significant potential on the site for large-scale logistics settlements in the Berlin/Brandenburg metropolitan region.'
The site is located on the edge of the existing "Ländchen Bellin" industrial estate, in direct view of the A 24 motorway, connecting the site to the northwest with Hamburg and to the southeast with the A 10, the Berlin Beltway.
'In terms of hall space, it will be the largest project ever developed by Garbe Industrial Real Estate in the company's history,' added Zellner. The Hamburg-based project developer has just started initial talks with potential tenants.
'Although we are still in early stages, we are already seeing a lot of interest,' commented Zellner. The entire logistics park is scheduled for completion in 2030.
Garbe Industrial Real Estate is aiming for certification in accordance with the Gold Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council.
