GARBE Industrial Real Estate GmbH, the German specialist in logistics, light industrial and technology properties, has hired Franz Kastner as it continues to eye expansion in the DACH region and other countries in Europe.

Kastner has joined as MD of Garbe Industrial Real Estate Austria, a subsidiary formed in 2022. Prior to his new riole, he was at CBRE Austria for more than twelve years. 

The Austria team is further beefed up via Maximilian Grantner, another specialist for properties and lettings transferring from CBRE, and by Matthias Strobl, previously working as investment manager for LLB Immo Kapitalanlagegesellschaft.

They join Jennifer Schödl and Maximilian Rameis, who have been working for GARBE in Austria as technical project developer and commercial project developer, respectively.

Kastner said: 'After twelve successful years with CBRE in the field of industrial and logistics real estate, I'm looking forward to my new role as property developer and investor, and to exciting projects in Austria. We are specifically planning to shift the focus more toward the support for occupiers, and to implement both rental and ownership solutions on greenfield and brownfield properties.'

Maik Zeranski, head of project development Garbe, explained some of the firm's current projects. In Austria, it is in the process of developing a new company site of about 28,000 m2 for Amann Girrbach in Mäder and a speculative development of 42,000 m2 in Kottingbrunn.

In addition, the firm manages another five properties in the Vienna and Linz metro areas.

Together, AUM measures €220 mln. 'With its latest members aboard now, the team will steadily expand this portfolio in the years ahead,' said Zeranski.
