Austrian property firm Supernova has emerged as the buyer of a portfolio of six Cora supermarkets and five adjoining shopping centres in Romania from French retail property specialist Galimmo and retail operator Louis Delhaize for an undisclosed amount.
The sale is part of Galimmo’s plan to exit Romania and refocus the activities on the core markets of France, Belgium and Luxembourg.
The shopping centers, which have a total area of 140,000 m2, are Bucharest Cora Alexandriei, Cora Lujerului, Cora Pantelimon, Cora Bacau, Cora Bratianu (Constan?a) and Cora Drobeta Turnu Severin.
Maël Aoustin, managing director of Galimmo Real Estate, said: ‘This sale operation in Romania marks the refocusing of Galimmo Real Estate's operations on its two strategic regions, France and Belux. We will continue our dynamic asset management policy, which aims to develop and support the attractiveness of our 60 shopping centers located in these two regions and representing 95% of the value of our platform.’
The malls will change their name to Supernova Shopping Malls, while Cora will remain the main tenant in the hypermarkets.
‘I am glad that our group is in a continuous development and that now we can achieve a significant presence in Romania. Cora is an important partner, with great projects in very good locations. We are confident that in the near future we will be able to refine the centers together so that they become even more attractive to customers,’ said Frank Philipp Albert, founder and CEO of Supernova Group.
