Fraport's real estate subsidiary has started the construction of its Monchhof property development area, which stretches along the southern bank of the Main river near Frankfurt Airport in Germany.

Fraport's real estate subsidiary has started the construction of its Monchhof property development area, which stretches along the southern bank of the Main river near Frankfurt Airport in Germany.

In a press release, the company said it acquired the 110-hectare site in 2004 to develop real estate for logistics company. Now vacant, the Monchhof industrial area housed a Caltex petroleum refinery in the 1980s. Fraport also indicated that the development is expected to generate thousands of new jobs in the medium term.

Fraport Immobilienservice's managing director Gitta Mir-Ali said that 'Monchhof is attractive for companies needing general office space and associated service facilities'. The company owns and operates the Frankfurt Airport, as well as is active in the international airport business
