French shopping centres and retail concepts turned in a strong performance at this year’s Mapic Awards in Cannes, with winners in four of the 10 categories.

The Terrasses du Port shopping centre in Marseille developed by UK REIT Hammerson won the award for the best retail urban project, while the Beaugrenelle mall submitted by Apsys took the special jury award for shopping cenre projects.

The Qwartz mall in Villeneuve-la-Garenne submitted by Altarea Cogedim won the award for the most innovative shopping centre, while French ‘slow food’ retailer Causses took the prize for best new retail concept.

The award for the best refurbished shopping centre went to the Armada project in Ankara, submitted by A Tasarim Mimarlik - Ali Osman Ozturk.
