Foreign investment in the Spanish real estate market amounted to EUR 3.07 bn in the first eight months of 2006, representing a decline of 16.2% compared to the year before, according to the Spanish Central Bank. At the same time investment by Spanish real states groups abroad almost doubled between January and August 2006, rising from EUR 729 mln in 2005 up to EUR 1.38 bn in 2006.

At the same time investment by Spanish real states groups abroad almost doubled between January and August 2006, rising from EUR 729 mln in 2005 up to EUR 1.38 bn in 2006.

The trend was similar in August itself : foreign investments in Spain declined whereas Spanish real estate investments abroad increased, as Spanish businesses investing EUR 168 mln. This was 30,2% more than July 2005 and 121% more compared with the same month last year. During the period January-August Spanish investments abroad was triple the level in 2002.

The strong performance of the Spanish economy is enabling more and more international real estate investments.
