Spanish construction group Ferrovial has agreed to sell Belfast Airport to an infrastructure fund managed by ABN Amro for EUR 165.5 mln. The sale of the only major international airport in Northern Ireland will help reduce almost EUR 10 bn in debt Ferrovial took on when it acquired UK airport operator BAA in 2006. In a statement to the Spanish stock market regulator, Ferrovial said that the disposal is in line with its strategy to focus on assets in Britain. The company expects the deal to complete by the end of September.
