French property group Fonciere des Regions (FdR) is due to open its recently renovated CB 21 tower in La Defense business district in Paris today. The costs of the refurbishment, which took 18 months to complete, are put at EUR 130 mln.

The refurbishment of the 75,000 m2 building is the largest full-scale office renovation in France since the start of the financial crisis. It is also the first tower to be completed as part of the La Défense renewal plan and the first tower in France to receive BREEAM certification. In addition, the building is HQE-certified. Energy consumption is 30% lower than for a traditional building, the company said in a press release.

Two thirds of the floor space is leased to Suez Environnement for the company's new headquarters. It accommodates around 2,000 employees.
In total the 180-metre building, which was designed by Saguez & Partners, accommodates 4,300 people.
