Spanish developer FCC is keen to enter the Romanian real estate market this year, according to its European manager Alcibiades Lopez Peron. After having carried out solely infrastructure projects in the country over the last two years, FCC now plans to develop several real estate projects and is already in talks on the construction of the Sun Plaza shopping centre, as well as a 500-units residential project.

The Spanish developer will participate in property projects together with construction group Alpine, Romanian newspaper Ziarul Financiar said. Last year FCC acquired a 80.7% stake in Alpine, Austria's second biggest construction company.

'The Romanian real estate market is witnessing a boom, and the quality of construction is going to be essential in project development. This is why an increasing number of strong foreign building companies that have financial strength and expertise will arrive on the domestic market', Lopez Peron said.
