The Aristotele real estate fund, managed by Fabrica Sgr, plans to complete the last phase of its student housing project near the University of Tor Vergata, Rome, by the summer. The fund, which is majority-owned by Inpdap, the Italian state pension fund for the public sector, has developed a total of 1,500 student housing units in the area, with the last 550 units scheduled for delivery in the next few months.

The project, designed by Ingenium Real Estate, represents the first student housing development carried out in Italy by a pension fund in partnership with a private party, Fabrica said.

'Fabrica is leading the way in this sector with its Aristotele real estate fund,' said Chief Executive Marco Doglio. The fund has invested some EUR 180 mln in the past six years in the development of student housing projects totalling around 3,000 beds across Italy.

In Milan, the fund manager is also carrying out the development of a further 600 beds near the Tecnopolo Tiburtino in the Bicocca area, while in Bari, Southern Italy, it has recently delivered a project offering another 600 beds.

Doglio also said the company is planning a new investment programme for Aristotele, funded by opening the fund's capital to other institutional investors.
