The 'overlooked' Nordic region is back in the game as international investors intensify their hunt for new, diversified investment opportunities, according to Mike Rodda, head of EMEA retail capital markets at C&W.

‘A lot of global capital is looking at the Nordics and that will accelerate over the next 12 months,' says Rodda.

Investor interest is coming from a wide range of investors, including Asian capital and private equity groups. They are looking at a broad spectrum of assets from core to opportunistic.

Rodda's top pick for investors from a retail perspective, including in the Nordics, is what he describes as 'mid-market shopping centres', the tier just below dominant regional centres. In particular, he sees good opportunities in the Nordics and Germany, as well as France, although France is more of a counter-cyclical play.
