Around 1,600 exhibitors from 34 countries are expected to take part in the 12th edition of the annual Expo Real property fair, which is being held in Munich from 5 to 7 October. Messe München, the organiser of the event, bases its projections on the latest registrations.

'Given the difficult economic situation in the sector, this is a very pleasing result. The majority of our long-standing exhibitors have remained faithful to the fair,' said Eugen Egetenmeir, a member of the management board of Messe München.

Based these figures Expo Real will occupy six halls with a total of 64,000 m2 of exhibition space. This is one hall less than at the last event in 2008, but in terms of space it equals that achieved in the growth year of 2007. In line with this reduction in space, Messe München expects to see a decline in the number of exhibitors of around 14%.

Messe München said the German property market is currently looking more robust than other markets and German participation will likely remain stable. But there is a fall in the proportion of international exhibitors, of around 20% (last year: 26%) - above all from the countries affected most by the crisis.

Joint stands are popular this year at Expo Real. The Turkish property market, for example, is represented for the first time at Expo Real at such a stand. Exhibitors there include Emlak Konut GYO and other Turkish companies such as Avrupa Konutlari, VARYAP Holding and Tulip Development.

The biggest international joint stand will be the Holland Property Plaza. Also taking joint pavilions will be Austria, France, Luxembourg, Slovenia and Switzerland, and the cities and regions of Budapest, Vienna, Milan, St Petersburg and Moscow.
