A total of 21,000 people attended the 9th international reasl estate trade fair Expo Real in Munich, the organisers revealed on Wednesday. This was a 20% increase in attendance compared with 2005. In terms of visitors from outside Germany, the increase was more striking - 35%.
After Germany, the top ten countries of origin among the visitors were: the UK, Austria, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, France, the US, Poland, Spain and Italy. 'This year's Expo Real highlighted two clear trends: on the one hand, rising international investment in Germany and on the other, an increasing presence of suppliers from other European markets,' said Eugen Egetenmeir, a board member of Messe München. The company orgsnised the trade fair at the New Munich Trade Centre between 23 and 25 October.
There were 1,638 exhibitors from 40 countries at the exposition, a 15% increase in exhibitors compared with 2005. The number of foreign exhibitors increased by over 35% and non-German companies took up a third of the 52,000 m2 of exhibition space. The amount of space allotted to this year's trade fair was, in turn, 25% more than in 2005.
The growth was mainly due to increased demand from the eastern and south-eastern European markets, the Russian Federation and the Gulf region. Moscow's mayor Yuri Luzhkov opened the fair. 'We take part in a lot of fairs, but Expo Real is for us one of the most promising platforms for talking about new building projects. That's why we are so active here,' he said.
The next Expo Real takes place in Munich from 8 to 10 October 2007.
