UBS Asset Management’s €63 bn global real estate business has appointed Paul Guest as executive director, lead real estate strategist.
Guest will be responsible for identifying and advising upon risk-adjusted return opportunities and providing global market forecasts. He will also lead the co-ordination of UBS Asset Management’s house view on real estate investment markets, which draws upon the research of its regionally-based research teams.
Commenting on the appointment, Guest said, 'While cross-border real estate investment isn’t a new phenomenon, we are seeing a broader array of investors going global with ever-increasing capital flows, despite some brief reversion to home markets after the Global Financial Crisis.'
'Advising clients on the relative performance of markets and sectors across the globe and explaining the benefits and costs of different market entry and exit strategies will be a key focus of mine. As the asset class continues to grow and mature, I will be working to place real estate in the context of a multi-asset landscape and to help clients define and execute their global real estate investment strategies,' he added.
Guest joins UBS following four years at LaSalle Investment Management, where he was most recently regional director of research and strategy, Asia-Pacific. Prior to that, he held the roles of global capital markets research director, head of EMEA research and director of UK research for Jones Lang LaSalle, where he was for four years. He formerly spent three years with Moody’s Investors Services and was at the Bank of Nova Scotia for two years.
UBS's €63 bn global real estate business spans Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific.
