Europe took centre stage for fund raising activity in March, accounting for 40% of all cash raised globally, with the UK seeing a further 4%, according to the latest report by Indirex.

Europe took centre stage for fund raising activity in March, accounting for 40% of all cash raised globally, with the UK seeing a further 4%, according to the latest report by Indirex.

In total, 32 funds raised a combined $4.39 bn (€3.2 bn) of equity on the European continent, representing 40% of the global total, while in the UK 11 funds announced raisings of $475 mln.

Global funds represented 32% of equity raised, with these funds also stating a strong interest in Europe. North America took an uncharacteristically low take of only 16% of cash this month while Asia took a 12% share.

The biggest raiser in March was Pimco's Bravo II fund which generated $2 bn, while Blackstone's Real Estate Partners Europe IV came second raising a further $1.19 bn at final closing. ECE's European Prime Shopping Fund II raised $990 mln.

Core/core plus funds represented 33% of fund raisings with 50% of raising going to opportunity funds and the rest in value-add.
