Eur SpA, the publicly-held company managing the development of Rome's Eur business district, has announced plans to sell a hotel project currently under development in the Italian capital's new congress centre.
The company said that it is looking for a buyer for the property, which will feature 439 rooms over 17 floors, as well as restaurants, bars and a 1,000 m2 fitness area. The hotel is part of a larger development project to build a new 27,000-m2 congress centre in the Eur area. The complex, designed by star architect Massimiliano Fuksas, will represent a total investment of about EUR 220 mln.
The hotel disposal is expected to fetch well over EUR 100 mln and is aimed at financing the construction of the new congress venue. Interested parties have until 3 December to express interest.
Eur SpA is 90%-owned by the Italian economic ministry, with the remaining 10% held by the Municipality of Rome.
