The European Public Real Estate Association (EPRA) has appointed Gerard Groener as chairman, the industry body announced at its annual conference in Paris on Thursday.
The European Public Real Estate Association (EPRA) has appointed Gerard Groener as chairman, the industry body announced at its annual conference in Paris on Thursday.
Groener is CEO of Dutch listed retail real estate investor Corio and replaces outgoing chairman David Atkins, CEO of Hammerson.
Groener has been active in the property business since 1985, working for investors, builders and developers. He has been with Corio for the last 17 years, starting as managing director for the Netherlands in 2001 after the company was formed from the merger between Winkel Beleggingen Nederland and VIB. Groener joined the Corio board in 2006 and took over the role of CEO in 2008.
In addition, EPRA has appointed Icade's chairman and CEO Serge Grzybowski as vice-president of its board of directors.
Grzybowski was managing director of Gecina from 2001 to 2006, and was appointed chairman and CEO of French REIT Icade in August 2007.
EPRA is the voice of the publicly traded European real estate sector and represents over €250 bn of real estate assets.
