Real estate developer Edge has officially opened the Valley, a high-rise building in Amsterdam, designed by MVRDV and delivered to RJB Group of Companies.
The fully-leased 75.000 m2 mixed-use development is located in Amsterdam Zuidas.
The development includes 200 apartments, seven storeys of offices, a three-storey underground parking with 375 parking spots and various retail and cultural facilities, in addition to a publicly accessible park.

This exceptional building is a great example to showcase what is possible in terms of high quality and sustainable housing in the Netherlands.’
The board of directors, RJB Group of Companies, commented: ‘As investor, we were very early on involved in the development of Valley. We were able to add quality to the programme of the building such as wellness with a swimming pool, a luxury upgrade to the apartments and an extensive conciërge concept.’
Valley brings much-needed greening to the district, with its landscape of jagged stone terraces, bay-windows, and balconies, covered in dense planting designed by renowned landscape architect Piet Oudolf.
In addition to a -0.3 EPC rating and a GPR score of 8, Valley will aim for a BREEAM-NL Excellent rating.
The offices feature high floor-to-ceiling windows, large, brightly-lit floorplates and full-service amenities, while the residential levels have large openable windows and sliding doors for outdoor spaces integrated within the stone facades.
MVRDV’s technology experts created a series of custom digital tools for the building, from a tool that ensured every apartment had adequate light and views, to a design programme that generated the apparently random pattern of over 40,000 stone tiles of varying sizes across the building’s façades.
