Polish-based Echo Investment has continued its expansion in Central and Eastern Europe by entering Romania to develop a 100,000 m[sup]2[/sup] shopping and entertainment centre project in the city of Brasov in the Southern Carpathians. Echo's subsidiary in Bucharest has signed an agreement for the purchase of a 4-hectare site in the city for the development which has an estimated investment value of EUR 100 mln. Work on the mall is to begin next year with completion scheduled for 2010.

Echo is active in the residential, shopping centre, office and hotel sectors. Listed in Warsaw since 1996, the company has completed 78 projects in 28 Polish cities. The 630,000 m2 of development has a total market valuation in excess of EUR 1 bn. The company plans to realise 38 new projects, with a market value of EUR 1.3 bn, from 2007 to 2011.
