Hamburg-based project developer ECE is realizing the largest hotel of Motel One Group in the heart of the Austrian capital directly next to Vienna central station.

The project, including a 60-metre tower with 530 rooms designed by renowned Viennese architects Holzbauer & Partner, is scheduled to open at the end of 2014. Motel One will lease the building and operate the hotel long-term through Motel One Austria, a joint venture with the Verkehrsbüro Group, over a period of 25 years.

The new hotel building over 18 floors will provide an above-ground gross floor area of around 17,500 m2 as well as 300 parking spaces.

The new Motel One is part of the Vienna central station project, one of the biggest infrastructure and urban development projects in Austria with a total area of 109 hectares. In addition to realizing Motel One, ECE is also developing an office building in the quarter with a rental area of around 8,500 m2.

In addition, ECE said it has been mandated by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) to carry out planning optimization, retail leasing and centre management of the 'BahnhofCity' shopping centre at Vienna central station.

The centew will house some 115 shops on a sales area of around 20,000 m2 and is scheduled to open its doors to the public in the autumn of 2014.
